My name is Rachel Stanley and I live in Everett with my husband, our daughter, our two cats and one dog. When not working, I enjoy reading, camping, watching football or hockey and playing volleyball. I LOVE coffee.
My experience in the accounting field began in college, when I was attending Western Washington University. One of my classmates made an announcement to everyone that their employer, a local CPA firm, was hiring students. The hours were flexible and they provided all the training needed. As a young student, undecided for a major, I decided to apply. I was hired on as a part time Administrative Assistant and worked up to being a full-time Tax Preparation Staff member. From there, I was hooked and my life was forever changed. My major of Accounting was declared and I worked for four years at this small accounting firm helping individuals and businesses alike traverse the complexities of our income tax system. After graduation, I continued to work full time while simultaneously going to school to attain the necessary college credits to become a licensed CPA.
After all my college courses were completed, I started working at a larger accounting firm, which came with more complicated tax situations and additional responsibilities. After six years of working for them, I decided to step out on my own and started Emerald City Bookkeeping, LLC.
Washington State tax laws are complicated and tedious, so my goal is to help individuals make the best of their tax situation. Additionally, opening a small business is tough as it is without having to consider the tax and accounting aspects. I aim to assist small businesses in navigating these complex processes and accounting tasks so they can focus on growing their own business.
